Changing a patient's message cadence

How to switch a patient to a different messaging frequency, such as once a week.

Written by Valeed Malik

Want a patient messaged less (or more) often? Here's how cadence works.

Message cadence — how often a patient receives their check-in texts — is set when you enroll the patient, and can be changed later by our team.

Setting cadence when you enroll

The enrollment form's RTM setup section includes a Message cadence dropdown. Pick the schedule that fits the patient: Mon–Fri (the default), Mon/Wed/Thu, Tue/Thu, or every day (Mon–Sun).

Changing cadence for an already-enrolled patient

You can change cadence yourself via the patient's options menu: tap or click the three dots (⋯) next to the patient's name, choose Edit Patient Info, then update the Message cadence field and save. The new schedule takes effect from the next scheduled message.

Need a cadence that isn't in the dropdown — such as once a week on a specific day? Message us through the in-app chat with: which patient (name as it appears in SaRA), the cadence you want, and — if weekly — which day the message should go out. We'll confirm once it's applied.

When to reduce frequency

Common reasons clinics reduce cadence: the patient is late in their plan of care, is progressing well and needs less frequent check-ins, or has said the daily messages feel like too much. Reducing cadence keeps the patient engaged without overwhelming them — and monitoring days still accrue toward their cycle.
