The SaRA browser extension: SaRA alongside your EMR

Install Bridge, the browser extension that puts SaRA next to your EMR, in about two minutes, one picture at a time.

Written by Valeed Malik

Bridge puts SaRA in a panel next to your EMR. Setting it up takes about two minutes.

The extension is called Bridge. Our partner Arrow Health builds it, so the Chrome Web Store lists it under their name. Once it is installed, a SaRA icon sits in a toolbar on the right side of your EMR. Click it and SaRA opens next to the patient's chart, so you can enroll and message patients without switching tabs.

Practice owners see this card on the last screen of setup. This page is that next step, one picture at a time.

Before you start. Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, updated to the newest version. Each person installs Bridge once on their own computer, in the browser they open the EMR in. If your IT team manages your computers or your network, send them Network and allowlist requirements for SaRA and the SaRA browser extension first. It lists everything they need to allow.

1. Open the Bridge listing in the Chrome Web Store

Open the link below in Chrome. The page shows Bridge, with arrowhealth.io under the name.

2. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension

Click the blue Add to Chrome button. Chrome opens a small box asking whether to add Bridge. Click Add extension. A moment later Chrome confirms that Bridge was added.

In Microsoft Edge the button reads Add to Edge. Everything after that is the same.

3. Pin Bridge to your toolbar

Click the puzzle piece icon at the top right of Chrome, next to the address bar. Find Bridge in the list and click the pin next to it. The Bridge icon now stays in your toolbar, so you can always see that it is there.

4. Log in to your EMR

Close any EMR tabs you already have open. Then open your EMR and log in as usual. A Bridge toolbar appears on the right side of the screen.

No toolbar? Look in the lower right corner of the EMR's login page for a small Bridge mark. If it is missing, the checks in The SaRA icon is grey, or the panel is gone bring it back.

5. Confirm your email once, then open SaRA

The first time, click the Bridge toolbar. A panel titled Verify Your Email asks for your email address. Type the work email you use to log in to SaRA and click Send Verification Code. Copy the code from your inbox into the panel.

The SaRA icon in the Bridge toolbar then turns from grey to colour. Click it to open SaRA next to the chart. There is no SaRA password to type in the extension.

Every screen of that first sign in, and what to do if the code does not arrive, is in Signing in through the extension for the first time.

Sharing a computer? Bridge belongs to the Chrome profile it was installed in. Each person who uses their own Chrome profile installs it once and confirms their own email.

If something does not look right

  • The SaRA icon stays grey. The email confirmation is not finished yet, or the email you confirmed is not the one on your SaRA login. The fix is in the first sign in guide.

  • The Bridge toolbar never appears. Update Chrome, close every EMR tab, then log out of your EMR and log back in. The full list of checks is in The SaRA icon is grey, or the panel is gone.

  • Your IT team manages Chrome and Bridge will not install or run. Send them Network and allowlist requirements. It has the extension ID they need to allow.

  • Your EMR never shows Bridge. Bridge runs on a set list of EMRs, which Arrow keeps on its certified EHR page. Tell us through the in-app chat which EMR you use.

Arrow's own illustrated install guide, with short animations of each screen, is here: Bridge installation instructions.

Bridge is built by Arrow Health, a SaRA Health partner. That is why the Web Store listing and the install guide carry their name.
