A patient can finish an RTM billing cycle after their last visit — here's how to handle it.
RTM cycle codes are based on calendar days of monitoring, not visit dates. That means a patient who was discharged can still become eligible for their next cycle code days or weeks after their final appointment. This is expected, and the cycle is billable.
Which date of service do I use?
If the patient has no appointments after the cycle-eligibility date, bill the code using the date of their last visit. You do not need a new daily note on the eligibility date itself.
Steps
Confirm the patient shows as eligible for the cycle code in your Ready to Bill list.
Create or amend the charge in your EMR using the last visit's date of service.
Mark the entry as billed in SaRA so it clears from Ready to Bill.
If a billed entry won't clear from Ready to Bill
Contact support with the patient and code — we'll clear it from our side.
Not sure the patient is truly eligible?
Ask us in chat before billing. We can verify eligibility for a specific patient in a couple of minutes.
