What do patients experience? No app, just text messages

Patients never download an app — their entire SaRA experience is normal text messaging. Common patient questions answered.

No app to download. Just text messages.

Your patient does not need to download an app or create an account. Their entire experience with SaRA is via text message — no passwords, no usernames. Any message you type in your SaRA dashboard is delivered to the patient as a normal text message, and they reply the way they reply to any other text.

The dashboard experience (which looks like email or online messaging) is only how you, the provider, experience SaRA.

Common patient questions

Does the patient need any special equipment?

  • No. Just a cell phone that can send and receive text messages.

How much time does responding take?

  • On average, less than 60 seconds to read and respond to the daily message.

Does the patient need to respond every day?

  • The more frequent the responses the better, but missing a day is fine — they can reply again the next day.

Can a patient stop the messages?

  • Yes. Replying STOP blocks all messages to that number — the patient can still text in, but the care team cannot reply. Replying START re-opens the text line; it does not re-enroll the patient.

  • The right way to stop a patient's messages is to deactivate them in SaRA — see Discharging a patient and stopping their automated messages.

Does SaRA put its own brand in front of patients?

  • No. SaRA never puts its brand or logo in front of your patients, so your clinic can call the program whatever you like — most practices use something like "[Clinic Name] Connect."
