Each SaRA patient can carry the ID your EMR uses for that same patient. It lets your team match the SaRA record to the right chart, for example when filing claims. You can add it while enrolling the patient, or any time afterwards.
Where the field is
Open your Patients page and click Add Patient in the top right.
The Add New Patient form opens on the Patient Info step. EMR Patient ID is the first field, just above Legal First Name.
Paste the patient's ID from your EMR into it, fill in the rest of the form, and finish enrolling.
The field is optional. A patient can be enrolled without it.
Which number to use
The EMR Patient ID comes from your EMR, not from SaRA. It is the ID your EMR gives that patient, so copy it from the patient's chart in your EMR. Each EMR labels it a little differently.
The short note under the field in SaRA says how your clinic's EMR works with SaRA. If you are not sure which number to use, message us in the in-app chat and tell us which EMR you use.
Using Raintree? The note under the field asks for the patient's Raintree patient number, and an Import Via EMR button sits next to the field. Type the number and click the button. SaRA fills in the patient's name, birth date and phone from Raintree. Check the details, then finish the form. If SaRA says the ID is already linked to an existing patient, that patient is already in SaRA, so search your patient list instead of adding them again.
Adding or fixing it later
Find the patient on your Patients page.
Open the patient's row actions and choose Edit Patient Info.
In the Update Basic Info window, enter or correct EMR Patient ID and click Update.
